Description
Smoke Wagon Bottled
Smoke Wagon Bottled Distilled from a traditional rye mash bill consisting of 51% rye and 49% malted barley. A high percentage of corn adds a nice rich sweetness that balances out the flavor notes of Rye’s big black pepper and cinnamon spice.
Creating a flavor profile that starts off creamy, rich with fruit and candy flavor notes that have a big, bold, complex spice finish that lingers for an eternity.
Finger Lakes Distilling View Collection The first step to making premium quality craft spirits is finding the best raw ingredients.
Situated in the heart of Finger Lakes wine and farm country, we’re ideally positioned to have easy access to locally grown grapes, berries, rye, corn, and other fruits and grains.
Smoke Wagon’s first bonded whiskey, this unique rye is unusual for using the “barley rye” mash bill that’s similar to certain Kentucky brands (Wild Turkey, Rittenhouse, Pikesville), which favor a 51% rye mash bill, with the difference being mostly corn, and 10-15% malted barley.
This low-rye mash bill makes up the entire difference with corn, even though the much-lauded distillery in Lawrence burg, where this is distilled, typically uses a 95% rye/5% malted barley mash bill.
As with all Smoke Wagon products, this rye whiskey is blended carefully by Aaron Chepenik in their tiny facility near downtown Las Vegas.
This is the first regular offering that’s bottled in bond, and experiencing this experimental style from the masters of rye is a real treat. At 100 proof with no chill-filtration, it’s one of the most flavorful and interesting ryes available today.
